The solution to stretch mark is less simple, alas. If you have a genetic disposition towards them, there's little you can do to stop the lines appearing, but you can take steps to help your skin return to normal after pregnancy.

THOSE DREADED LINES
The appearance of stretch marks is impossible to predict. Even if you got away with clear skin the first time around, or have been religiously moisturizing during the past six months, you may find reddish lines appearing from nowhere this month.
They can affect your abdomen, breasts, buttocks, thighs and arms - basically any place where the skin is being stretched beyond its normal elasticity.
Maintaining a good diet, drinking plenty of water and following a skin moisturizing program can all help to minimize stretch marks, but if your genetic makeup has made you prone to them, or you have gained sudden or excessive weight during this pregnancy, these measures will not prevent their appearance.
If you have developed stretch marks or are suffering from dry skin, continue to oil your skin throughout your pregnancy as well as after the birth. It will help it to return to normal more quickly.
BACK TO BASICS
Looking after your back in pregnancy requires nothing more than common sense. Listen to what your body is telling you and take the weight off your feet whenever you are feeling physical strain.
Don’t wait until you have pain to do something about your workload. Now that you are in your third trimester it’s a good idea to hand over some of your normal responsibilities, especially if these involve lifting or bending down.
For instance, if your child needs to be carried in and out of the bath, let your partner do the lifting. Or perhaps now is the time to teach your firstborn some more independence. Use steps or opt for showers, and discourage him from asking to be lifted when it isn’t necessary.
You’ll be amazed what a toddler can suddenly do if he puts his mind to it. And remember to reward any helpful behaviour so that he can feel proud of his grown-up behaviour.
